Scaling forest inventories and modernizing forestry data to adapt to the challenges and opportunities of this decade

The data that forestry and logging companies use to base all of their decision making on hasn't changed much in the last hundred years - foresters go into the woods to sample targeted plots with prisms and tape measures.  Now, in this decade, the industry is undergoing dramatic pressure in different dimensions.  On one hand, there is a growing pressure to do more, as the recognized value of our forests expands to include carbon, biodiversity, and wildfire risk qualities.  And on the other hand, we have less to work with as we face a growing labor shortage.  We need to quickly learn how to do more with less in order to adapt to the growing challenges and opportunities that this decade brings for our industry.  We believe the data we have to work with, and how we collect it, will be the key that empowers us to not only survive these challenges, but to thrive by tapping into these new opportunities and values.  In this talk we will talk through our technical data approach as well as our vision for the future of our industry.
